So Mobo have announced their Unsigned London finalists for 2012 and they are Xploder, DDark and The Stow.
I was very pleased to see DDark in there as he featured in my Top 3 UK Independent Artists 2011 list, clearly other people are spotting the talent too! His track ‘The Quest’ is the single that has been singled out and as I mentioned in my post it is a particular favourite of mine and a lot of others also it would seem.
Xploder has been putting in work on the underground scene for a very long time and it was only right that he was shown some appreciation. Especially with all the love his track ‘Hype Show’ has been getting. It’s a club banger with its upbeat feel developing into a dubstep track means its one to get the crowd hyping!
The Stow are very different to the other two finalists. With clear indie pop influences and the fact that they are a band immediately set them apart. Though there is some similarity in the fact that rap is very much a part of what they do. ‘Lifeline’ tells a story of coming back from a dark place and features fast paced piano and heavy hitting drums. It is really refreshing to hear a track where the instruments can be heard so clearly as most music these days is completely synth driven.
Well done to all the acts……and here’s hoping we see a lot more from them all in the coming year!
